missingWrote a review on Jan 06cozy atmospherebasic breakfastdamaged doors
The bar area featured a cozy atmosphere despite its dim light, adding to a relaxed vibe after a long day. The breakfast, while basic, offered just enough to start the day, although you might not be dazzled by the variety.
The hotel needs more than a little TLC. the doors bore signs of damage, with some not locking correctly. Water pressure in the shower sputtered inconsistently, ignoring your requests for a decent rinse. Carpeting throughout the establishment felt like it hadn’t seen a clean in years, accompanied by an unpleasant odour that lingered in the hallways. The bathroom lacked adequate heating, making it an uncomfortable place, especially in winter. For late-night escapes, you’re faced with a treacherous metal spiral staircase, which isn’t ideal for anyone with larger pets or mobility issues.

A cozy local pub experience
The friendly staff welcomed us warmly, and we enjoyed a peaceful evening at the cozy pub with amazing views. Breakfast was generous, and the bar prices were unbeatable.
The hotel did show signs of age, with squeaky floorboards making it hard to ignore noise from above. The rooms could certainly use some updating for comfort.

The place showcases beautiful Grade 2 listed features, packed with character. Meals hit the mark, with a generous breakfast spread and solid choices for lunch and dinner, all at reasonable prices with notably good vegetarian options.
It’s got its quirks. Noise can be a nuisance, particularly from drunken chatter in hallways and creaky floorboards overhead. Some issues with water pressure made showers less enjoyable, while not having heat or hot water at times was an inconvenience. Plus, late-night access can be a hassle, utilizing a steep metal spiral staircase just to step outside. it shows a lack of regular maintenance, making it feel a bit neglected, which dampens the charm.

The cozy atmosphere combined with friendly staff made for a pleasant experience. Enjoyed a delicious meal with well-priced options, particularly the fried oysters. the rooms definitely need updating, as some aspects felt outdated and there were noise disturbances from other guests during the night. While the service was accommodating, it would help if the staff handled issues with more professionalism.

It was just a balanced option for a city break in Caerphilly with great value for the money. The staff are friendly, which made my stay a bit more pleasant. Better check the heating before settling in, it can be chilly at night.
